José Mourinho hints at Madrid departure and return to Chelsea

JOSE MOURINHO last night dropped a huge hint that he is on his way back to Chelsea.

The Real Madrid boss admitted he is hated in Spain and insisted: “I want to be where people love me to be.

“I know in England I am loved by the fans, the media, some clubs and especially one. In Spain the situation is different because some people hate me.”

Mourinho spoke out following his side’s Champions League semi-final exit to Borussia Dortmund.

The Special One has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge next season. And when asked if he will remain in Madrid he replied: “Maybe not.”

Mourinho, who has one year left on his Real contract, insisted he will make a decision on his future after speaking with president Florentino Perez at the end of this season.

He added: “It’s difficult to make a decision because I like this club.

“I like the president and we have built a team that is ready to do big things.

“I haven’t made a decision yet because I have a contract and I respect the club and the president.

“It’s why I want to win the Copa del Rey final and finish second in the league.

"I want to sit down with my president, my friend, and decide the best for me. At the end of the season I will speak.”

Mourinho, 50, managed Chelsea from June 2004 until September 2007, when he left after falling out with Russian owner Roman Abramovich.

He remains Chelsea’s most successful manager with two Premier League titles and three domestic cup triumphs.

But Mourinho’s comments will almost certainly put more than one Premier League club on alert.

Manchester City are another possible destination for him.

Real’s 2-0 semi-final second-leg triumph at the Bernabeu could not stop Dortmund booking their place in the Wembley final with a 4-3 aggregate win.

Late goals from Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos were not enough — then Mourinho blasted English ref Howard Webb for not sending off Dortmund’s Mats Hummels.

The ball hit the Borussia star’s hand as he slipped on the edge of the area and Mourinho insisted: “I am very disappointed with one of my favourite refs.

“In that moment he was not a referee, he was a human being.

“He thought, ‘If I give a red card to Hummels, he will miss the final’.”
